Officials in a tizzy over RPF ‘lifting sand’

Revenue authorities on Saturday conducted enquiry over the lifting of sand from the Cauvery at Sarkar Palayam in the Cauvery river under the jurisdiction of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel without valid permission.

On information that a group of 40 RPF men collecting sand near a pumping station,P. Senthamarai, tashildar, Thiruverumbur and Selvam, Assistant Director, Mines, visited the spot and enquired with them.

It was said that they collected sand by buckets for filling sand at the RPF ground at Khajamalai for conducting physical endurance test.
