New Collector assumes charge

M. Govinda Rao, a 2011 batch IAS officer, assumed charge as the Collector of Thanjavur district on Monday.

The new Collector, a native of Vizianagram district in Andhra Pradesh, had earlier served as Sub-Collector at Kumbakonam during the mahamagam period before being posted as Deputy Commissioner (Works),Greater Chennai Corporation.

On his first day at office in Thanjavur as the District Collector, he received 601 petitions from the general public at the grievance meeting held at the Collectorate. He also distributed assistances to the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes implemented by the State government on the occasion.

His predecessor A. Annadurai has been transferred and posted as Collector, Villupuram district.
