Applications have been invited for admissions to the three-year certificate courses of the Government Music School run by the State Department of Art and Culture here.
The school offers courses in vocal music, nagaswaram, thavil, bharathanatyam, mridangam, violin, and Thevaram for the candidates in the age group of 12-25 age group. Candidates should have passed Class 7 for admission to vocal, mridangam, violin and bharathanatyam courses. For other courses, relaxation would be made in basic qualification.
The annual fee for the courses is Rs. 150. Students would be provided a scholarship of Rs. 400 a month. Outstation students would be accommodated in government hostel. Admissions would begin on May 25. Interested candidates can contact the principal, Government Music School, Moolathoppu, Melur Road, Srirangam, District Collector K.S. Palanisamy said in a release.
