A five-year-old girl died after being allegedly beaten up by her mother at their house at Kattuputhur in Tiruchi district on Monday.
The girl succumbed to injuries at the Salem Government Hospital where she was referred to from Namakkal Government Hospital.
Police sources said the girl’s mother P. Nithyakamala, aged around 35 years, had allegedly beaten her daughter, causing multiple bruises on the body. The girl was initially taken to Namakkal Government Hospital from where she was referred to the Salem Government Hospital.
A police team has rushed to Salem Government Hospital on receipt of information about the girl's death. The family had shifted to Kattuputhur a few days ago. The Kattuputhur police are yet to register a case.
