Minister inaugurates two fair price shops

Two new ration shops, one at Bankers' Colony in Thiruvanaikovil and the other at Kattupatti in Manapparai, were declared open by N.R.Sivapathi, Minister for School Education, Youth Welfare and Sports, here on Wednesday.

Speaking after inaugurating the ration shop in Thiruvanaikovil, Mr. Sivapathi said that the new ration shop at Bankers' Colony was opened by bifurcating the ration shop at Kondayampettai Agraharam. The new ration shop would have 763 ration cards – 161 cards belonging to Mallikaipuram, 200 cards belonging to Timmarayasamuthiram, 235 of Karikalan street, and 167 of Bankers Colony.

The Kattupatti part time ration shop has been created by bifurcating the Mathampatti ration shop. The new shop would have 260 ration cards attached to it. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the elementary school in the village has been upgraded into a middle school and infrastructure will be created at an outlay of Rs.1lakh.

The government has allotted Rs.4.5 lakh for developing the local road and the village will soon get a bore well for solving the drinking water problem.

The new ration shops were opened by Mr.Sivapathi in the presence of Collector Jayashree Muralidharan, R.Manoharan, R.Chandraskekar, both MLAs, and other officials.
