Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss on Tuesday alleged that a gun culture is spreading in Tamil Nadu, along with the activities of mercenaries.

Citing the second daring daylight bank robbery in Chennai within a month, Dr. Ramadoss claimed that murder, burglary, kidnap and rape had become an everyday phenomenon in the State.

He was speaking to mediapersons after releasing a draft document, ‘New politics and new hope'. He alleged that the Dravidian parties, in their 45-year-rule, brought in liquor, freebies and cinema to Tamil Nadu and were “deceiving” the people. Examples of “degeneration” caused by the DMK and the AIADMK had been listed in the draft document brought out by the PMK. Claiming that the power sector in Tamil Nadu had collapsed, he demanded that the government constitute an independent expert body and act on its advice to tide over the crisis. Major reforms needed to be introduced in this sector with long-term planning.

The PMK would not have alliance or seat-sharing arrangement with national and Dravidian parties, he said.
