It was because of the committed cadre and their unswerving faith in the party’s ideology that the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) continued to move forward despite the challenges faced by it, MDMK leader Vaiko said on Monday. With such determined cadre in the party, there would be no downfall or defeat or destruction for the party, Mr. Vaiko said after unveiling the portrait of party senior leader and former Tiruchi city secretary A. Malarmannan here.

The MDMK, he said, had never shirked when it came to fighting for people’s issues and those concerning the interests of Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Malarmannan was not only highly respected by the party members, but had earned the respect and affection of political functionaries cutting across party lines, Mr. Vaiko said. Mr. Malarmannan was the one who had proposed his name as the MDMK’s general secretary when the party was formed over two decades ago.

Ever since the formation of the party in 1993, Mr. Malarmannan had stood by him, Mr. Vaiko recalled. The MDMK presidium chairman S. Duraisamy, treasurer Masilamani, and former MP A. Ganesamoorthy spoke.
