May Day observed in delta districts

Flag hoisting, processions and organising public meetings marked May Day in Tiruchi on Tuesday.

Cadre of Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (M) observed the day by participating in various programmes.

S. Sridhar, CPI(M) State Committee member, hoisted the party flag at the party office on Karur Road.

Similarly, flags were hoisted at 500 locations in different parts of the city.

Members of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), split into 50 groups, toured various parts of the city to hoist the flags.

A large number of CITU members took part in the public meeting organised at Sarukkuparai.

On behalf of CPI(M), Tiruchi rural, a public meeting was organised at Samayapuram, where State Committee member Sridhar and Ponmudi, State vice president, CITU, spoke.

May Day was marked by processions taken out by trade unions in Perambalur and Pudukottai.

Members of CITU and construction labourers took out processions in Perambalur town.

A group of two-wheeler mechanics took out a motorcycle procession in Perambalur.

Members of CITU and AITUC took out a procession in Pudukottai town. A procession was also taken out in Viralaimalai by members of all trade unions, police said.
