Masked gang loots 33.5 sovereign gold jewellery, two lakh cash at knife point

A masked gang reportedly broke into a house at Vadamalai Manakottai on Wednesday night and decamped with 33.5 sovereigns gold jewellery from an aged couple and their daughter at knife point. They threatened to harm the daughter’s baby if they resisted.

Paneerselvam (80), Thilagkavathi (58) and Madhubala (28) had raised an alarm after the intruders decamped with the booty, police sources said.

Superintendent of Police S.P. Jawahar inspected the scene of crime. Fingerprints have been lifted from the house and CCTV footage in the vicinity was being examined, police sources said.

The Kariyapattinam police have registered a case.
