A 32-year-old man, who allegedly murdered his mother at their house at Avoor in Musiri police station limits in the district on Monday, has been arrested.
The accused, S. Kannadasan, was an alcoholic and reportedly demanded money from his mother, S. Tamizharasi, when her husband was away.
Police sources said Tamizharasi reportedly told her son that she would give the money after his father returned home. Irked over this, Kannadasan allegedly attacked his mother with the handle of a spade causing grievous injury to her. The injured woman died on the way to hospital.
On a complaint from the victim’s husband, N. Srinivasan, Musiri Police arrested Kannadasan on Monday and had him remanded. A murder case has been registered.
