Madurai-Tirupathi express extended to Rameswaram

The frequency of the train has also been increased from the present twice a week to three times a week.

The weekly twice Tirupathi–Madurai express on the main line will be extended to Rameswaram from July 22 . Besides, the frequency of the train has also been increased from the present twice a week to three times a week. The train 16779 Tirupati- Madurai express leaving Tirupati on July 22 will be extended to Rameswaram. The train will leave Tirupati at 1.15 p.m. arrive at Chidambaram at 9.30 p.m., Mayiladuthurai at 10.18 p.m.; Kumbakonam at 10.50 p.m., Thanjavur at 11.28 p.m.; Tiruchi at 1.55 a.m. the next day, Madurai at 5.55 a.m. and Rameswaram at 9.15 a.m. The inauguration and regular extended service and increase in frequency from bi-weekly to tri-weekly of train number 16780 Rameswaram – Tirupati express will commence from Rameswaram on July 23. The train will leave Rameswaram at 4 p.m., arrive at Madurai at 7.05 p.m.; Tiruchi at 10 p.m.; Thanjavur at 10.53 p.m., Kumbakonam at 11.30 p.m.; Mayiladuthurai at 12.03 a.m. the next day, Chidambaram at 12.50 a.m. and will reach Tirupathi at 10.35 a.m.

The Tirupati-Rameswaram will leave Tirupati on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays and the Rameswaram – Tirupathi express will leave Rameswaram on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The train will stop at Mandapam; Ramanathapuram; Paramakkudi; Manamadurai; Madurai; Kodaikkanal Road; Dindigul; Tiruchi; Thanjavur; Kumbakonam; Mayiladuturai; Sirkazhi; Chidambaram; Cuddalore; Tiruppadirippuliyur; Villupuram; Tiruvannamalai; Vellore Cantonment; Katpadi and Pakala, a release of Tiruchi Railway Division said.
