The Kauvery Hospital will open an exclusive Kauvery Brain and Spine Centre at its Cantonment unit here on May 1 with a state-of-the-art facilities.
“Brain and spine are the most complex and delicate organs of the body. Diseases of brain and spine affect the patient most. Taking due advantage of science and technological advancement, treatment facilities too have developed,” said G. Jos Jasper, Head of Department of Brain and Spine Centre.
Dr. Jasper told presspersons here on Friday that managing diseases associated with brain and spine needs a team of specific experts aided by the best of what current science and technology has in store.
The new centre has the required infrastructure ranging from ‘Neuro Navigation technology’ to ‘Stealth Station’. The Neuro navigation technology guides surgeon to locate the exact part of the brain or spine that needs surgery. For patients who suffer a stroke, treatment should be provided within 4 to 5 hours. “Latest stroke management technology has been introduced here. Intra Arterial Thrombectomy (IAT), a catheter is introduced into the blocked vessel for mechanical clearing of clot using a clot extractor,” he said.
The centre will be inaugurated on May 1.
