Karnataka-made liquor seized

Officials of the Prohibition and Enforcement Wing (PEW) of the City Police seized 600 liquor bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor from Karnataka that were illegally stocked in a room in Fort area here on Thursday.

Three persons – Sivasankaran, Arulmurugan and Ganesan – were arrested by the PEW personnel on the charge of stocking and attempting to sell Karnataka IMFL in the district.

Police said the PEW officials found 24 brandy bottles in the possession of a person by name Sivasankaran after they stopped him near the Head Post Office while he was riding a two-wheeler.

Based on the information given by him, the PEW team went to Butterworth road where 600 brandy bottles of Karnataka IMFL were illegally stocked in a room and seized them.

Arulmurugan and Ganesan said to be sub agents of Sivasankaran in the illegal sale were arrested by the team.

Sivasankaran runs a shop in Burma bazaar selling electronic accessories, the police said. The PEW has registered a case in this connection.
