Jeddah meet to clinch Haj agreement


A high-level delegation comprising E. Ahmad, Minister of State for External Affairs; Mohsina Kidwai, Chairperson, Haj Committee of India; Hamid Ali Rao, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia; and Aboobucker, Vice- Chairman, Haj Committee of India, will hold discussions with the Saudi Arabian government in Jeddah city on March 14 on finalising the annual Haj agreement for the Haj season 2012.

The Saudi Arabian delegation will be led by its Haj Minister, Bandar bin Mohammed bin Hamza Asaad Al-Hajjar.

In a statement issued on Monday, Mr. Aboobucker said that over 1.70 lakh pilgrims from India were expected to perform the Haj this year. The Indian delegation will be making a request for metro rail service for its pilgrims in the Mashear area (Mina-Arafat).
