The INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) exhibition, mooted by the Ministry of Science & Technology and organised by the State School Education Department, received overwhelming response from students.

A large number of students from schools across the district lined up at the Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School on Tuesday to witness the exhibition. Collector Jayashree Muralidharan and Chief Educational Officer N.Anandhi were among those who spent more than an hour at the school to visit the exhibits. A jury of 10 members visited each stall to evaluate the exhibits to select top three district-level award winners and 20 consolation winners.

As many as 214 exhibits were displayed at the one-day exhibition. Many of the exhibits reflected the innovation, hard work, and team work of the participants. Most of the stalls dealt with subjects such as production of electricity from waste, conservation of energy, solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and protection of environment

Some of the students designed models for avoiding accidents and saving lives. The stalls put up by the students of government schools showed that they were second to none. Ms.Muralidharan said that top three exhibits would be sent to State-level exhibition.
