December 01, 2017 10:25 am | Updated 10:25 am IST - TIRUCHI:

The Indian Subcontinent Decision Sciences Institute (ISDSI) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Tiruchirappalli, will jointly organise the 11th ISDSI International Conference here during the last week of December.

The conference spanning four days from December 27 to 30 offers a platform to promote interdisciplinary research at the global level through sharing of research agendas, ideas and findings related to decision-making, decision processes, and performance excellence by academicians, practitioners from business and industry, an update in the IIM-Tiruchirapalli website states.

The conference has been fixed in the context of today’s volatile and intensely competitive environment, wherein businesses and non-business organisations across the globe must conduct themselves with utmost efficiency to achieve performance excellence to survive and thrive.

Decision-making in all functional areas and at all levels of management play a crucial role in achieving the desired excellence by making the best use of the available resources. Decision-makers need to appreciate and deal with technical, cultural, behavioral, social, and environmental interdependencies while making decisions. Also, they require adapting and utilising various decision science’s tools and techniques for efficient and effective decisions, as well as promote global sustainability at the micro and macro levels, the note states.

The doctoral colloquium on the first day envisages providing opportunity for doctoral students to present their research to other students and experts in the field. A panel of distinguished researchers will share their feedback and provide insights, which will help the students to improve their research work.

Best Paper Award

Full research papers are to be reviewed, and the top three will be ranked and awarded the “Best Doctoral Paper” award consisting of a certificate and cash prize.

Since its inception in 2005 as a professional organisation of academicians and practitioners interested in the application of quantitative and behavioral methods to the problems of society, the ISDSI has been conducting national, international and regional conferences, competitions and bringing out publications as a forum for presenting and sharing research in the study of decision processes.
