Idol Wing produces silver ‘kavachams’ before court

The Idol Wing CID on Tuesday produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district three silver ‘kavachams’ (armour) of peacock and deities of Rahu and Kethu of Kapaleeswarar Temple at Mylapore in Chennai.

The Idol Wing CID is probing the case relating to alleged swapping of peacock idol in 2004 besides swapping of the idols of Rahu and Kethu.

Upon production of the three silver ‘kavachams’, the court directed that they be kept in safe custody at the icon centre inside Nageswaran Temple at Kumbakonam. Following the direction, the idols were handed over to the icon centre.
