Idol Wing personnel inspect unearthed idol

Idol Wing personnel, led by Special Officer appointed by the Madras High Court, A.G. Ponn Manickavel inspected the idol of Lord Nataraja, unearthed at Vallikollaikaadu near Adhiramapattinam on Tuesday.

The Special Officer came to Vallikollaikaadu on Tuesday night and inspected the idol unearthed during earth work carried out behind the house of Lalitha.

After inspection by Idol Wing personnel, the 4.5-foot metal idol, was moved to Abhayavaradeshwar Temple in Adhiramapattinam, where it was kept in a room. As a large number of devotees thronged the temple on Wednesday to have a glimpse of the idol, security was provided to the temple.

Police sources indicated that the Idol Wing police might search the area where the idol was found and surrounding places using advanced metal detecting equipment to ascertain whether more idols were buried.
