Hundreds witness ‘Vedupari’

January 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - TIRUCHI:

A large number of devotees offered worship to Namperumal and witnessed the “Tirumangai Mannan Vedupari” at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple on Thursday. The celebration, forming the eighth day ritual of the “Iraapathu” of the ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ festival, signifies Lord Narayana’s blessing to Tirumangai Mannan who comes to rob the Lord and His Consort of valuables.

Namperumal, the processional deity of the temple, was taken from one part to another on the Manalveli , marking the significance of the ritual.

Earlier, Namperumal was brought from Sandhanu Mandapam in Kuthirai Vaganam, which was followed by Vaiyali Kandarulal.

Later, Namperumal was taken to Thirumamani Mandapam.
