It will be a local holiday for educational institutions in the district on Monday. In a press release issued here on Sunday, S. Palanisamy, District Collector, said holiday had been declared in the wake of sharp showers. Earlier, Shiv Das Meena, Special Monitoring Officer, reviewed the preventive measures taken by various departments to meet any emergency during the monsoon.
Similarly, holiday has been declared for schools in Ariyalur and Perambalur districts on Monday.
Weaker Section Day
The Weaker Section Day was celebrated as part of National Integration Day here on Sunday. Manick Deepan, Deputy Collector, gave away cheques totalling Rs.43.82 lakh to 81 beneficiaries belonging to the weaker sections. The beneficiaries included 17 persons who got housing grant at the rate of Rs. 1.50 lakh; 28 brides who got marriage assistance of Rs. 50,000 each.
