HMK to decide on January 24

The executive committee of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) will meet in Coimbatore on January 24 to take a final call on fielding a candidate for the Srirangam by-election, according to its president Arjun Sampath.

Presiding over a party workers’ meeting of Tiruchi urban district on Sunday, he said the local unit had passed a resolution to contest in the by-election.

Party’s urban district secretary S. Pandian had the inclination to contest and if the party decided to contest, he would be its candidate from Srirangam.
