Habitual offender detained under Goondas Act

Victor allegedly robbed a tea stall worker at knife-point at Chinthamani.

S. Victor (39), an habitual offender, was detained under the Goondas Act here on Monday on the order of the Commissioner of Police.

A police press release here said Victor was involved in three extortion cases booked in Fort and Gandhimarket police stations.

Upon coming out of bail early this month, Victor allegedly robbed a tea stall worker at knife-point at Chinthamani here.

The Fort police have registered a case and arrested him.

The release said Victor was detained under the Goondas Act in order to curtail his illegal activities.
