Transgenders in the district could henceforth air their grievances once in 15 days either to the Collector or to the District Social Welfare Officer to get them redressed. Collector K.S. Palanisamy gave this information at a grievance redressal meeting held exclusively for transgenders here recently.
The district administration organised meeting in response to a demand from transgenders who sought a meeting exclusively for them similar to the one held for public on a weekly basis.
They placed before the district administration a slew of their demands at the meeting attended by the District Social Welfare Officer Usha and revenue officials.
They wanted issue of family cards to enable them obtain essentials from fair price shops; issue of identification cards, housing facilities and grant of old age pension above the age of 40 years.
Collector Palanisamy assured them that their demands would be fulfilled.
