Government Higher Secondary School for Blind Girls at Puthur in Tiruchi has achieved cent per cent result in the Plus Two examinations for the fourth consecutive year.

All the 25 students of the school have passed with J. Santharubini of Cuddalore district emerging on top with a tally of 1,070 marks. L.Ilakkiya, also of Cuddalore district, stood second with a score of 1,032 marks. She was followed by K.Radhika with 1009 marks.

M.Tamilselvi, Headmistress of the school, emphasised the need for parents of visually impaired girls to admit their children in the school right at the primary level rather than putting them in regular schools. “Very often we find that students with visual impairment are brought for admission here only for higher classes. At that stage, the students find it difficult to adjust after having studied in regular schools which are not equipped to teach them. We have well-trained teachers to teach the students here,” she said.
