Expenditure Observers arrive in central region

As filing of nominations for the polls began on Tuesday, election expenditure observers appointed by the Election Commission started arriving at assigned constituencies central region.

Upon arrival, some of them held brief discussions with the District Election Officers (DEOs).

In Tiruvarur, expenditure observer (EO) Mahesh Kumar Yadav participated in an all-party meeting held to brief representatives of political parties on election guidelines relating to expenditure by candidates.

Collector and District and Election Officer T. Anand told them to strictly adhere to ECI guidelines. Each candidate should maintain accounts of expenditure incurred from the date of filing of nominations and file the accounts with the DEOs within 30 days from the day of declaration of results. All expenditure should be meted out from a separate bank account opened for the purpose, he said.

Earlier, Mr.Yadav inspected a media centre set-up in the Collector’s office where members of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee monitor advertisements and other propaganda material of candidates and political parties.

In Perambalur, A.E.P. Dukuria, EO, inspected the centre along with Collector V. Shanta.

An official release said Mr. Dukuria would be in charge of Perambalur, Lalgudi and Manachanallur Assembly segments in Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency.

In Karur, EOs Amberkar, A. Damodar and Manoj Kumar held discussion with officials soon after their arrival. They visited some parts of the constituency.

While Mr. Damodar would look after Krishnarayapuram, Manapparai and Viralimalai Assembly segments, Mr. Manoj Kumar would take care of Karur, Aravakurichi and Vedasandur Assembly segments.

The Election Commission had appointed Anoop Kumar Verma and Sudhanshu S. Gautam as EOs for Tiruchi constituency and both had arrived, Collector S. Sivarasu said in a statement.

While Mr. Gautam would look after Srirangam, Tiruchi West and Tiruchi East Assembly segments, Mr.Verma would be in charge of Tiruverumbur, Gandharavakottai and Pudukottai segments.
