The Indian Space Research Organisation Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, has announced an essay writing competition for school students as part of the World Space Week celebration.
The contest would be conducted separately in Tamil and English for students of class six to 12 in three categories.
The topic for the sub junior category (class VI to VIII) is ‘Space Technology and its Applications’ and ‘Discovery of earth like planets,’ for the junior category (class IX and X). For the senior category (class XI and XII), the topic is ‘Space Exploration Moon, Mars and beyond’.
Students of all schools across Tamil Nadu could participate in the contest.
Students are encouraged to read extensively before writing the essays.
Participants can take help from their parents and teachers in collecting resources.
However, the final essay should be written by the students themselves.
A certificate from the head of the institution to this effect should accompany each entry.
The essays should be handwritten in A4 size papers. Essays should be around 2,000 words.
All entries should have a covering letter with the name of the participant, age, class, school address and residential address, along with the contact phone numbers.
Each entry should be individually attested by the head master or head of the institution.
Prizes will be given away to the winners in each category at the World Space Week function to be held at IPRC in the month of October, according to a press release
Entries should be sent by post and super scribed as ‘Essay Competition’ and addressed to the Administrative Officer, IPRC, Mahendragiri Post, Tirunelveli District, Tami Nadu – 627133 on or before September 30.
