Devotees in large numbers drew the temple cars of Jambukeswarar Akilandeswari Temple at Tiruvanaikoil here on Friday as part of the ongoing Panguni Peruvizha.

The two temple cars were specially decorated for the event with one carrying the idol of Somaskandar and the other Goddess Akilandeswari. The ancient temple is one among the panchabootha sthalams representing water. The Panguni Peruvizha began on March 14 with the hoisting of the holy flag at the shrine and it comes to an end on April 21.

Ahead of drawing of the temple cars, special abhishekams were performed for the Lord and the Goddess. A large number of devotees drew the temple cars at 6.50 a.m. with the event concluding around 10.30 a.m.
