The Congress cadre on Wednesday staged a protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah and State Dairy Development Minister K.T. Rajendra Balaji.

While condemning Mr. Shah for his remarks on making Hindi as a unified language, they criticised Mr. Balaji for his remarks on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi and urged them to withdraw their statements,.

Led by V. Jawahar, president, Urban District Congress Committee, they initially staged the protest at the party office. The protesters then attempted to stage a road roko on Fort Station Road, leading to the arrest of 25 persons. All of them were released in the evening.
