Child marriage stopped

A child marriage was stopped and a 15-year-old-girl was rescued, thanks to the timely intervention by the officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Child Welfare Committee members.

According to Jayanthi Ranee, member of the committee, Yasodha, Social Welfare Officer, received a letter about the marriage of a girl child of Agrimangalam Maruthandakurichi village, planned to be solemnised at Mannachanallur on March 11.

The girl is a standard X student and is to appear for the SSLC examination to be held shortly.

She is now under the care of the Child Welfare Committee.
