TIRUCHI

The National Fishworkers’ Forum (NFF) has criticised the Centre for approving the Coastal Regulation Zone Notification 2018 despite protests and objections raised by fishing communities and other stakeholders.

The CRZ 2018 notification would pave the way to further sell off our coastal land and water to corporate and business houses by removing restrictions on constructions and other activities which are detrimental to coastal natural resources, R.V.Kumaravelu, Vice-Chairperson, NFF, charged in a statement issued here.

Though the implementation of CRZ 2011 was shoddy, its relevance was still high. The Cabinet has turned a blind eye to this and has approved the CRZ 2018, he said and called for its withdrawal.
