Central team holds meeting with Collector, civic officials in Thanjavur

On revitalising waterbodies in the district

A review meeting to discuss measures for improving water resource management in the district was emphasised by a Central team as part of Jal Sakthi Abiyan initiative.

The meeting chaired by Pramod Kumar, an official in the rank of Additional Secretary in the Union Government, and Collector A. Annadurai discussed ways to improve the groundwater table, and create additional structures to harvest rainwater.

Officials of various departments were directed to expedite on-going works of construction of check dams and repair works in 2,449 water-spread areas.

Officials of Public Works and Rural Development departments, local bodies, and Tamil Nadu Water Supplies and Drainage Board took part.
