Central region fire fighters come on top in State meet

The Fire and Rescue Services, Central region, Tiruchi, emerged overall champions in the State-level sports meet conducted by the Fire and Rescue Services department here recently.

The three-day meet saw the participation of around 150 fire fighters from central, north, southern, western and north western regions.

The sports meet had contests in technical events for the fire fighters including hose laying, squad drill, ladder drill and tactical medley.

In addition to this, there were athletic events such as 100 metres sprint, long jump and high jump. There were also competitions in swimming, volleyball and basket ball. The Additional Director General of Police / Director, Fire and Rescue Services R.C. Kudawla distributed the championship trophy to the Fire and Rescue Services, Central region team on Saturday.

Collector K.S. Palanisamy, Commissioner of Police Sanjay Mathur, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tiruchi range N.K. Senthamaraikannan, Superintendent of Police Rajeswari and other officers participated.
