Thirty-three closed circuit surveillance cameras have been installed at vantage points in the Big Temple complex here with a view to monitor the crowd.

Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) sources here said that the cameras have been fitted at Raja Rajan gopuram, Keralandhagan gopuram, four courtyard perimeter walls. Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited has taken up the installation works at an outlay of Rs. 1.15 crores.

The tourism department has also planned a sound and light show for tourists. Being a world heritage monument, the location to host the show without affecting the ambience of the temple is being discussed.
