Case registered against Thirumavalavan

The Perambalur police have registered a case against president of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi Thol.Thirumavalavan based on a complaint lodged by Hindu Munnani Town Secretary Kannan alleging that the former had "uttered words prejudicial to national integration, wounded and outraged the religious feelings of Hindus at Puducherry earlier this month.”

The case was registered on Tuesday under IPC sections 153 B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration), 295 A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 298 (Uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
