Booths set up in Tiruchi to get ideas on smart city proposal

The Tiruchirapalli City Corporation opened public booths at five places in the city on Thursday to receive suggestions from the city residents on the Smart City Plan.

The corporation and the consultant appointed to draw up the plan have launched an exercise to elicit suggestions from stakeholders on evolving the Smart City Plan and prioritising the development requirements of the city.

Following up on the first round of stakeholders meeting held recently, the civic body has decided to open public booths at different parts of the city over the next one week to receive suggestions from residents.

Residents can give their suggestions in writing on a given form and drop the same into the drop boxes kept at the booths. Alternatively, they can record their suggestions online at the computer systems provided .

The booths were opened at Gandhi Market, NSB Road, Thillai Nagar Main Road, Woraiyur, and near Jamal Mohamed College. Mayor A. Jaya, accompanied by Deputy Mayor J. Srinivasan, and civic officials inspected some of the booths and encouraged residents to come up with their suggestions.

Corporation officials said the booths would be set up at different places of public congregation at different parts of the city for a week to receive the suggestions.

The civic body has welcomed suggestions from college students and announced cash prizes of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 10,000 for the top three entries.
