Bid to burn effigy of Kerala CM

An attempt to burn the effigy of Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy over the Mullaperiyar dam issue was foiled by the city police here on Thursday.

Police sources said a group of persons assembled near the Anna statue in Chinthamani with the effigy with the intention to burn it to protest the Kerala government's stand on the dam issue. Upon information, police descended on the spot and took away the effigy.
