BHEL launches Hindi website

BHEL Tiruchi on Tuesday launched a dedicated website in Hindi to coincide with Rajbhasha Day celebrations.

Launched by Executive Director A.V. Krishnan who is also Chairman, Official Language Implementation Committee, the website contains a public grievance and suggestion portal for general public. The prevailing business environment warrants employees to have working knowledge of Hindi to interact better with customers and other business partners, Mr. Krishnan said presiding over the Rajbhasha Day function.

The chief guest, Manjula Renganathan, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, said while 400 languages were being spoken in India, 75 per cent of the population was at an advantage with Hindi. A common language maintains the cultural identity of a nation, she said, handing over the first copy of Hindi souvenir ‘BHEL Kiran’ to Mr. Krishnan.

S Gopinath, Executive Director, Piping Centre, Chennai and Power Plant Piping Unit, Thirumaiyam, launched the online edition of BHEL Kiran.

The dignitaries joined R Kumar, General Manager, Engineering and Research & Development; M Palanivel, General Manager, Human Resource; V Vasudevan, General Manager, Planning & Development, Civil and Modernization; and R Easwaran, General Manager, Welding Research Development, in presenting awards and certificates to winners of various competitions held for employees and school children in connection with Rajbhasha Fortnight Celebrations.

Presenting the annual report of the official language activities for 2011-12, Santosh Kumar Mishra, Rajbhasha Officer, informed that Rajbhasha Cell of BHEL Tiruchi has covered over 3,000 employees through its numerous training programmes. A. S. Samad, Additional General Manager, Human Resource, and N. Ravi Prakash, Deputy General Manager, Human Resource, also addressed the gathering.
