BHEL constructs classrooms for panchayat union school

The BHEL has constructed six classrooms and compound wall at the Panchayat Union Middle School, Tiruverumbur, under its corporate social responsibility scheme at a cost of Rs.25 lakh.

A. V. Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL, Tiruchi, dedicated the classrooms and compound wall to the school at a function held at the school premises on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Krishnan urged the students to utilise every minute of their day to empower themselves through education, sports, arts and culture and contribute to nation-building. He described the CSR activities of BHEL to be the duty of the organization towards ensuring progress of surrounding villages and towns and construction of class rooms, compound walls, community halls and toilets fulfill its social commitment in providing healthier and educative environment.

S. Karunakaran, General Manager, SSTP and Civil, in his felicitation, said that BHEL aimed at improving the lives of weaker sections of the society. He said that about 4000 Sq ft of class room area was constructed for the school.

Speaking on the occasion, M P Nainar, GM, HR, BHEL, enumerated the various projects undertaken by BHEL under its CSR scheme.

He said that BHEL's main focus was on improving infrastructure, education, employment opportunities and health of downtrodden and weaker sections of the society. He also informed that last year BHEL had spent Rs.1.05 Crore for various projects under CSR while this year, the amount earmarked for the scheme was Rs.1.55 Crore.

S.S.Pillai, AGM, PR and Administration, M. Palanivel, AGM, HR,T. Ramanathan, AGM, Civil, B. Shoba, AGM, Medical, Manjan, Assistant Elementary Education Officer, Tiruverambur and Mehaboob Bhai, President, PTA, offered felicitations.

R. Selva Mary, Headmistress of the school, thanked the BHEL for its gesture.
