BDU calls for applications for weekend course

M.A. programme in Women's Studies for 2018-19

The Department of Women’s Studies, Bharathidasan University, has invited applications from eligible men, women and transgenders for its M.A. Women's Studies (weekend) programme from 2018-19.

The programme will enable candidates continuing their higher studies in colleges, school teachers, office employees, NGO staff, homemakers, business and part-time employees secure a post-graduation degree, a press release issued by the university said.

The PG progamme will equip learners to critically question the status of human beings and the gender inequalities prevailing in the society, and relate gender and other forms of inequalities in the society to violence against women, the conflicts in terms of caste, class, religion, and race.

The students will gain knowledge on gender construction and gender politics in society, intersections of gender with other social institutional variables and contribute towards building gender perspectives in social analysis with scientific and rationale bases.

Social norms analysed

By questioning the existing social norms, which actually help in sustaining various forms of inequalities, the students will be sensitised towards analyzing the role of ‘power’ over gender relations, and the subordination and oppression of human beings in society, the release said.

There is enormous scope for employment for in the social sector of government and NGOs, right from regional to international institutions.

Placement

Placement will be done on the completion of programme through campus interview.

The last date for the receipt of application is July 31.
