Awarded for maintenance of animals

Ten best maintained cows and 15 goats that were given free of cost to the beneficiaries under the State government scheme will be awarded prizes on Tamil New Year’s Day, Collector Jayashree Muralidharan has said.

During 2012-13, 350 beneficiaries were given cows while 5,063 persons were given goats.

The target set for the district was fully met during 2011-12 and 2012-13. Prizes were given last for well maintained milch animals by the beneficiaries. Similarly, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has ordered the award of prizes this year too, Ms.Muralidharan said in a press release.
