AVC College wins women’s title

Quality from players at the State-level volleyball tournament, which concluded in Dalmiapuram on Sunday, kept spectators entertained all through.

Applause from the audience, in fact, encouraged the spikers to showcase their best. Teams from different parts of the State took part in the three-day tournament, which was organised jointly by Dalmia Cement (B) Limited and Tiruchi District Volleyball Association (TDVA).

Five teams – SRM University, Saraswathi Thyagaraja College, Armed Police, Jamal Mohamed College, and Dalmia Recreation Club – took part in the men’s section, while the women’s category saw participation of four teams – AVC College, Nirmala College for Women, Kings College of Engineering and PSGR Krishnammal College for Women.

According to J.V.Gungune, Executive Director, Dalmia Cement (B) Limited, the participation spirit of the players during the tournament was astonishing.

SRM University, Chennai, and AVC College, Mayiladuthurai, bagged the men’s and the women’s title. Mr. Balamurugan gave away prizes in the presence of P. Kalaiselvan, District Sports Officer, Thanga.Pichaiappa, secretary, TDVA, and S. Govindarajan, joint-secretary.
