Annabishekam was performed to ‘Sivalingams’ on the occasion of Ippasi Pournami in Thanjavur district on Tuesday.

The Sivalingams at Iravatheeswarar Temple at Dharasuram near Kumbakonam was adorned with 108 kg of cooked rice and vegetables. A tonne of rice was used to decorate the 13-foot-tall Sivalingam at Brihadeeswarar Temple (Big Temple) in Thanjavur.

On the occasion of Ippasi Annabishekam , curd rice abishekam was performed on the shotasa lingams installed on the banks of Mahamagam tank at Kumbakonam on Tuesday morning. Annabishekam was also performed on the main deities at Aadhi Kumbeswarar Temple, Kumbakonam, and other Siva temples in Kumbakonam and Thanjavur.
