Garlanding of statues and portraits, poor feeding by cadre of various political parties marked the Anna birth anniversary celebrations in various parts of the district on Thursday.
The cadre of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) led by R. Manoharan, MLA and secretary of the urban district unit of the party, garlanded the statue of the late leader at Chinthamani in the city in the morning.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) cadre led by K. K. Thangaraja, treasurer of the district unit of the party, garlanded late Anna's statue.
K. N. Sekaran and Rani, both former MLAs, were among those who were present.
A.R. Vijayarajan, secretary of the urban district unit of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), led the party cadre, who garlanded the statute.
The members of the Dravidar Kazhagam, various other organisations too paid their respects to the late leader in various parts across the district.
