Andal idol found in drainage canal

A metal idol of Andal was found while removing silt from a drainage canal at ARR Nagar in Kumbakonam on Thursday.

According to sources, the idol, standing about two feet in height, was found inside a gunny bag while workers were engaged in clearing the silt deposit from Olaipatinam drainage canal.

On being informed, Revenue authorities took custody of the idol and moved it to Kumbakonam Taluk Office. Inquiry was on to find out how the idol ended up there.
