The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has fielded J. Srinivasan as its candidate for indirect election for the post of Deputy Mayor of Tiruchirapalli City Corporation scheduled to be held on January 22.
Representing 24{+t}{+h}ward in the city, he is party floor leader in the Corporation Council. A native of Edatheru in Palakarai, Mr. Srinivasan is serving as district secretary of Jayalalithaa Peravai in the party. He has won from 24{+t}{+h}ward for three terms consecutively since 2001.
The Deputy Mayor post fell vacant following the resignation of M. Asick Meera, who is facing a rape case.
