AIADMK bags panel posts

P.Krishnamurthy, AIADMK councillor representing ward 14, was declared elected unopposed as chairman of the Ariyamangalam Zone Ward Committee of the Tiruchirapalli City Corporation here on Saturday. Indirect election for the post was held here by M.Vijalakshmi.

The post was lying vacant after J.Srinivasan was made the Deputy Mayor. With the AIADMK enjoying a majority in the 65 member council, there was no other nomination for the post and Mr.Krishnamurthy was declared elected unopposed.

S. Sahadev Pandian, AIADMK councillor representing ward 9, was declared elected as chairman of the Town Planning Committee and R. Shankar, AIADMK councillor representing ward 30, was elected member of the committee.

While Mr. Pandian replaces S. Valarmathi, who resigned as councillor to become the MLA of the Srirangam constituency, and Shankar replaces Amutha, who died some months ago.
