Attractive bamboo works, strong household articles made of Sesham wood, wooden wares with intricate carvings, Jaipuri lac bangles and eye-catching iron and brass statues are some of the handicrafts currently on show at ‘Kalanjali Craft Bazar 2010' currently on at the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hall in the city.
The craft exhibition, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Handicrafts, Handloom, Artisans Association, aims at providing marketing opportunities to the handicrafts being produced by artisans of Uttar Pradesh.
“Apart from marketing the products both in national and international markets, the association has also been imparting intensive training to the artisans for upgrading and developing their skills, with the objective of meeting customers' needs,” says Kevin Evers, Manager, Kalanjali, organising the exhibition in the city. A variety of terracotta pottery; Kalamkari and Lalahasti wall-hangings; handlooms in cotton, Battick and Jaipur goods; bed-spreads and dress materials are the other exhibits.
