Three persons, including a 12-year-old boy drowned in the Cauvery at Uthamarseeli in the city's outskirts on Tuesday.
They were identified as M. Vetrivel (21) of Dindigul, A. Balaji (12) and P. Sivanandhan (19), both of Thuvakudi.
Police sources said that the three youths were part of a group that came to the river to take water for a temple at Thuvakudi. While entering the water, they got trapped in quick sand and drowned.
