A special camp for the differently-abled persons in the district under the Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme which was to be held here on April 10 has been postponed owing to administrative reasons.

For differently-abled

A press release here said the camp would be held on April 17 at the St. John's Vestry Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in the city.

A team of medical experts will screen the differently-abled persons during camp to identify them for higher treatment. The State Health Minister, M.R.K. Paneerselvam, will inaugurate the camp in the presence of Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment D. Napoleon, State Transport Minister K.N. Nehru and State Forest Minister N. Selvaraj.

Those in possession of smart card issued under the Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme as well as those for whom the smart cards were yet to be issued after taking family photographs could attend the camp by producing the national identity cards given to the differently-abled persons and ration card.

Medical tests

Medical tests including x-ray, scan and ECG would be done free of cost. In order to render assistance to the differently-abled persons under one roof, special counters will be opened at the camp venue to offer services including registration for obtaining free assistive devices and registration of names to become members in the welfare board.
