Residents flay ‘shortcomings' in LPG cylinder distribution

December 14, 2011 01:04 pm | Updated October 18, 2016 02:43 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

Residents and traders, assembled under the banner of the Association of All Vayalur Road Traders, staged a demonstration in the city on Tuesday protesting ‘shortcomings' in distribution of domestic LPG cylinders.

The agitators complained of delay in supply of LPG refills and alleged that gas agencies were not taking bookings for refills.

Joint families were facing much hardship as the cylinders last just 20 days and were not able to book refills immediately. Customers were being rudely treated by employees of the gas agencies, the association alleged.

The agitators called upon the Centre and State governments to take steps to streamline LPG distribution and ensure customers were supplied with refills promptly.
